What is Be WISE Day Camp?
Be WISE Day Camp is a math/science camp for
girls entering grades 5 or 6 in the Fall of 2013.
When is this year's Day Camp?
This
year's Day Camp will be held July 9-11, 2013, at
Denison University in Granville, Ohio, from 9:00
AM - 4:10 PM each day.
The camp will feature hands-on activities in Electricity, Kitchen Chemistry, Ohio Bats, Ohio Birds, and Origami to Geometry. These activities are designed to develop interest in these fields and self-confidence in the students. The class sizes will be small to ensure maximum interaction.
A special thanks goes to Denison University for
the use of their classrooms and labs.
Who will direct the camp?
Experienced teachers have been selected to teach in this camp. Most have had 8-10 years experience at the Be WISE residential camp. The campers will be escorted to all classes by experienced camp counselors who are in high school or college.
Camp Fees
Camp fees are $175 which includes educational
materials and daily lunch. Transportation to and
from camp each day is NOT provided.

Payment in full is required with the camp application.
Camp maximum is 72 girls. Applications
will be accepted on a first come basis. Fees will
be returned if the camp is full. There will be no
refunds after May 2, 2013.
Insurance
Campers are expected to provide their own
medical insurance. Denison University does
not assume direct responsibility for the health
care of those who are using the facilities of the
University for summer programs. In the event of
injury/illness, campers will be transported to either
Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio,
or Granville Medical Center in Granville, Ohio.

Come and have fun with electricity! You will review circuit electricity and construct a light-weight electric house in which you will construct separate series and parallel circuits to power your house.
How much iron is in your cereal? What happens when some common kitchen products are combined? What is a polymer? These are some of the many questions you will explore. Be prepared to put on your lab coats and immerse yourself in the work of a chemist!
What do you think of when you hear the word "bats"? Halloween? "Blind as a bat?" "Bats in the Belfry?" Believe it or not, bats are one of our most helpful creatures. In fact, you want them in your back year! Attend this class and get the facts on "bats" and make a bat house for YOUR house.

Be WISE Day Camp Health & Medical Form:
This two-page form is to be filled out by the camper's parent or guardian before camp. You will need to call a physician to get a camp exam. The medical form needs to be notarized before sending.
Be WISE Day Camp is located on the campus of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, which is 27 miles east of Columbus, Ohio.
From the Columbus area and South of Delaware, OH:
Take Interstate 71 to 270E. Take 270E to Rt. 161. Go East on 161 to Granville and take the Denison exit.
The University is located on College Hill above the Granville.
Type your starting address using the mapquest form to find the best driving directions to Granville, OH 43023.
